Coastal Manabí, not the Amazon.
Our family grows white-fleshed pitahaya in Rocafuerte, in Manabí, on Ecuador's dry-tropical coast. The plants are climbing cacti trained onto posts. Ecuador's coastal provinces are where the white-fleshed fruit sits — the yellow pitahaya the country is known for is a different species, grown over the mountains in Morona Santiago.
